Frustrated by the lack of technical, hardwearing outdoor children’s clothing, new first time Mums, Maria Frykman Forsberg and Camilla Schmidt, were determined to change this for their new babies and for future generations to come.
Eventually they gave up their careers as a management consultant (Maria) and womenswear designer (Camilla), to put plans in place to change the world of kid’s outdoor gear.
In 2005 ISBJÖRN of Sweden was born. The dedicated mothers were so determined to launch their first products, they even managed to hand sew 800 fleece overalls with their very own hands, to ensure they met their very first customer order.
Named after the toughest animal on the planet, the polar bear, Maria and Camilla set out their Vision for ISBJÖRN. Their main aims were to make all the layers that the toughest outdoor active child may need, equalling the technical performance of any adult garments, while bringing true product sustainability to all ISBJÖRN products.
Standing apart from other kids’ outdoor brands, Maria and Camilla use only premium technical and environmentally friendly materials, such as PrimaLoft® Insulation Eco and Bionic Finish® ECO.
With more than 90% of its range using bluesign® certified materials, ISBJÖRN of Sweden promises to:
- Reduce: Using only production methods and materials that DO NOT release harmful fluorocarbons and other emissions into the environment
- Reuse: All products are designed with longevity in mind, including grow cuffs and at least three user name tags
- Recycle: ISBJÖRN strives to use recycled materials wherever possible
- Repair: Products are designed to last, but repaired if necessary
This summer ISBJÖRN of Sweden is using tough TENCEL® in its collection. TENCEL® is made using a natural fibre from fast growing wood species and the material is more absorbent than cotton, softer than silk and cooler than linen. The TENCEL® Tee Collection blends the fibre with Nylon and Elastane to create durable, comfortable clothing that
stands the test of time, travel and dirt!
The TENCEL® Tee Collection comes in a range of attractive designs which reflect the environmental philosophy of ISBJÖRN of Sweden, ranging from the Earth and Small Peaks Tees for 2-8 year olds and the Trail and Big Peaks Tees for 9-16 year olds.
