I was in Milan working on my hand bag collection and met up with a friend of mine in the hotel lobby of the Savoy, who was then head of marketing for Stella McCartney. I had been carrying a big clunky tube of nipple balm around for years to soothe my eczema and dry lips, and felt that more people should know about this amazing product that had been around for 1000s of years but seemed to have disappeared from the beauty market. She agreed it was uber effective and had also noticed that our friends couldn’t forget the ‘nipple balm’ and that the laughing and jokes kept on going. I launched Dr.Lipp (drlipp.com) soon after.

SELF-CARE SECRETS

I do a lot of Yoga all year round, hiking and swimming in the summer and skiing and ski touring in the winter. I believe that doing sport is very important for your body and mental health which is the foundation of looking after yourself. I also dry body brush every morning which my mother taught me, which is an ayurvedic practice which helps boost your immune system and keeps your skin looking beautiful.

Recently I’ve started getting into different breathing techniques, eg the Vim Hoff method which has all sorts of proven effects on your cells, DNA and general well being.

BUSINESS PLANS

We are expanding the Dr.Lipp range to a micro range of multi-use essentials. Its everything you need in just a few products reducing your skincare regime from 10-16 products down to three. All 100% natural of course, super simple but highly effective. I believe this is what we now need. To make our lives simpler, our value chain simpler and make products that do what they say they can do.

WAYS TO BE MORE SUSTAINABLE

To get back in touch with the natural rhythms of the earth in every way. Did you know that in Norwegian (I’m Norwegian) the name for dinner is ‘middag’ which literally translates as ‘mid-day’. In the old days before everybody got lightbulbs it was normal to wake up with the sunrise, together with the birds and have dinner around mid-day and then go to sleep when the sun sets. Today this would seem absurd, but If we were to focus more on the natural rhythms we might not be substituting the void with frivolous shopping and quick fixes and look for more sustainable long term solutions.
