EVENT New Issue
The first Green Parent Magazine of 2019 has just been released and there’s plenty inside to inspire a year of adventure and connection for your family. Get it here: tinyurl.com/buytgp87

Read about life on the road as we speak with seven families who live the vanspiration life, try out our digital detox plan and get motivated to use less plastic this year with our three pioneering zero waste families. Find out how to cultivate a mini activist, the best way to boost immunity for your child and the importance of reconnecting to nature for parents as well as kids. And our Family Holiday Guide tucked inside will provide everything you need to plan the best breaks for your tribe this year.

Happy Exploring!

EVENT, RECIPE Wassail Up?
It’s Wassailing season; time to bless the fruit trees with cider and apple juice, singing and lots of loud noises! Find out more about it here and perhaps try making our warming, non-alcoholic wassail cup. There are wassailing events all over the country, particularly in those areas rich in fruit orchards. Watch Wyld Morris dance and listen to traditional stories at Bridport Community Orchard, join the Green Man in Sandford, make a ribboned stave and take part in the procession at Barrington Court in Somerset and watch traditional mummers in Taunton. Find more south western events here and more across the country here

EVENT Light Up London
Waltham Forest has been designated the first ever Mayor’s London Borough of Culture and will spend the year celebrating Radicals, Makers and Fellowship, all themes we love! Celebrate with them at their huge, art-heavy opening event, Welcome to the Forest. Immerse yourself in site-specific film, and hear new music commissions, wander around Nest, an epic lighting installation in Lloyd Park, and watch an amazing, neon-lit winter carnival traverse Forest Road. Full details here

EVENT Free Pavilion
The wonderfully camp Royal Pavilion looks like an alien spaceship marooned in the centre of Brighton. It’s equally as flamboyant inside as out, but usually there’s a charge to get in. This Sunday, however, it’s the Annual Free Day. Wander through the theatrical Banqueting Room, the opulent Music Room and the atmospheric kitchens. An easy, cheap way to brighten up a grey January. RECIPE Yes You Vegan!
Are you doing Veganuary this year? We’ve been hunting for some animal-friendly inspiration. Luscious foodie pics on Instagram are brilliantly inspiring; here are 13 that might keep you on track. Cookie + Kate remains one of our favourite sites for recipe ideas, as does the frugal-yet-joyous Jack Monroe’s Cooking on a Bootstrap, while the Vegan Family House has been online since 1999, and has a massive collection of ideas. And keep up to date with the latest vegan product launches (contrary to internet opinion, it’s not ALL about Greggs’ vegan rolls) and find great snack suggestions here
