We all want the perfect skin and certainly do not want it to age prematurely. So when should we start an anti-ageing skincare regime and what should we include?

Skincare experts recommend you should begin to use at least one anti-ageing product as young as 25. Why? Areas like the skin around the eyes, can begin to show signs of ageing at this age.

Products with a high content of Vitamin E & A, antioxidants, omega-fatty acids, collagen boosting properties and peptides all have been proven to reduce wrinkles and other signs of ageing. So what main natural anti-ageing ingredients do you need to look out for in your products?

1. Frankincense- commonly used by the Egyptians as the main natural preservative for the mummifying process, I’m sure you can appreciate why this essential oil is popular in anti-ageing products today? With anti-inflammatory effects and very skin toning, it reduces lines and wrinkles and has a protective effect on healthy skin cells. My favourite Frankincense product is the Neal’s Yard Remedies Frankincense Hydrating Cream.

2. Rosehip Seed Oil not only reduces wrinkles and fine lines naturally, but has been known to reverse sun damage! Very rich in Vitamin A.

3. Avocodo Oil, you’ll be pleased to know, is rich in vitamins and essential fatty acids and is therefore a fabulous natural collagen booster! Giving you that more youthful look.

4. White/Green Tea- it may not taste as nice as your brown teas, but believe me you will get used to it and it is so worth it! These teas are fantastic antioxidants and have been proven to reverse free radical damage to the skin cells such as sun damage, poor diet and stress. Go organic with unbleached teabags if you can. I would recommend Clipper or Pukka Herbs Teas.

So let’s break down your natural anti-ageing skin care regime, taking into consideration the above anti-inflammatory properties and skin boosting natural ingredients:

Cleanse- every morning and evening with a gentle wash or lotion to remove makeup and daily grime. A very popular Age Restore Cleanser is by Ila Spa.

Tone- I’ve said it before an important part of any skincare regime, but often neglected! Toning kick starts your moisturising process and removes any residue your cleanser has left behind. We would recommend Neal’s Yard Remedies Rejuvenating Frankincense Toner.

Serum- often better than oil, as it penetrates the layer of skin producing the collagen more effectively.

Moisturise- a definite for any skin type and age. But must include anti-ageing botanicals and collagen boosting natural ingredients. Apply before your makeup and massage into skin in an upward motion.

Night cream- another must to feed your skin at night when it rejuvenates skin cells the most. Use just before bed and moisturise into areas particuarly prone to lines and wrinkles. Ila Spa Night Cream for Rejuvenating Skin Cells is beautiful.

Face Mask- apply once a week after toning and before your serum. Leave for 10-15 minutes then rinse off with water.

Start as you mean to go on and look after your skin as naturally as possible!
