January is the ideal time to get away. There are lots of great deals to be had across the UK and, even if January doesn’t strike you as the best time to be exploring the countryside, if we are blessed with crisp, cold days, a winter walk can be magical. With so much incredible countryside all around us, escaping after the rush and bustle of the festive period can be just what the doctor ordered. Finding yourself in a cosy cottage with a roaring fire and just the sound of birdsong to interrupt your thoughts, offers the chance to reflect on the past year and the year to come.

Gathering with family to set your intentions, to draw and write your dreams, and chat into the night about big plans, always takes on a life of its own when done away from the pressures of home. There is the space to dream big!

Most cottages offer the chance to book for less than a week, with the minimum number of nights usually three. So even if you can’t get away for a whole week, or can’t afford a holiday of that length, there’s still the option to recharge for a few nights in a beautiful location.

We’ve rounded up some gorgeous and some simple cottages, many with breath-taking views.
