I had long suffered from bad skin and acne breakouts for many years when I discovered the wonders of mineral makeup and started creating cosmetics purely for my own use, but with amazing results. My skin actually started to clear and calm down and I had never before received so many compliments of how radiant my complexion was. When my friends and family members started to enjoy my products as well I had an epiphany in my bedroom when it dawned on me that I should share my mineral makeup creations with the world. It was an incredible moment of clarity and certainty where I resolved to begin the process of creating my brand - Honeypie Minerals. It was so exciting to realise what I wanted to do for my future, especially as I was only 21.

SELF-CARE SECRETS

Treat yourself to moments of peace, such as the simple beauty ritual of applying makeup in the morning. I see makeup as creative expression to reflect your mood and natural self. As a brand we advocate for a “your skin but better” approach where you can truly radiate your personality through how you feel, and natural makeup can really help you feel confident and beautiful from within. Confidence is such an important element of self care and loving yourself.

BUSINESS PLANS

We recently had a gorgeous rebrand with a new logo and look. It perfectly reflects our natural product range and has been very warmly received by our lovely loyal customers. We have exciting launches planned next year which focus on our zero-waste initiative that accompanies our popular biodegradable Refill system. As a natural cosmetics brand we aim to always be as ethical and sustainable as possible and are continually looking at ways to grow. Our packaging is both recyclable and refillable but we are hoping to find new jars soon that tick all the boxes.

THREE WAYS TO BE MORE SUSTAINABLE

- Start with small swaps. Choose one item and change it for an eco-friendly alternative. Better yet, look for multi-tasking products which benefit from having more than one use.

- Have fun when switching to sustainable alternatives. I love thinking outside the box when finding a new use for something. It’s an amazing way to get creative and upcycle items which would otherwise go to waste.

- Perfection doesn’t exist. Don’t be disappointed if you can’t fulfil your ideal to be completely sustainable. More and more alternatives are continually coming to market with the development of new eco-friendly materials and technologies. Meaning it’s absolutely fine to just do the best you can. If everybody makes only one or two improvements than that alone is a positive outcome.
