INSPIRATION

I was inspired by hundreds of women with skin issues that I saw when I worked demonstrating make-up all over the country for many years. They kept asking me what I recommended they use to help their skin. I could sympathise because having lived in London for many years, I had suffered my own skin issues, brought about by pollution. I realised women were confused, even though the shops were full of products. Wouldn’t it be great to have my own skin care range that was most importantly natural and plant-based, working with your skin, not against it? I eventually decided to make it a reality by doing some formulation training before creating my range. I want women everywhere to benefit from my products.

BEST BEAUTY ADVICE

I was taught many years ago by a beauty therapist the correct way to remove eye make-up and apply product around the eye area without pulling and damaging the skin. Over the eyelid from the inner eye out to the corner and under the eye, inwards towards the nose. All with a feather light touch. I still wince whenever I see people scrubbing away at their eyes to remove their make-up or apply eye cream.

DESERT ISLAND PRODUCT

A big vat of high quality plant oil! It can be olive, coconut, macadamia, almond, it doesn’t matter, but I could use it for many things – cleansing, moisturising, healing and protecting skin. It would keep my hair and lips moisturised too. And being natural, I could prepare food with it too.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR YOUR BRAND?

Following a brand design refresh last year, we’re looking to get into retail outlets of all sizes. We are also launching a system for professional salons.

TAKE ACTION AT HOME

• Look for plant based products that are kinder to your skin.

• Buy from indie beauty brands made right here in the UK

• Not all Latin names on a product label mean the ingredients are bad for you, but not all are good either! In the same way as for food, learn to understand the basics of product labels to help you make informed choices.
