INSPIRATION

Neve is our 16-year old daughter who, aged nine, decided we should keep bees so asked Grandad Jim for a beehive for her 10th birthday - so they really are Neve’s Bees (and she’s obviously ‘Queen Bee’!). Neve’s Bees started as a bit of a hobby - we call it our ‘adventure business’ now - creating 100% natural products which do not compromise on quality, fragrance, feel and effectiveness - and which are vibrant and cheerful. As someone who is passionate about our beautiful countryside I’m also really proud that we now donate 5p from each sale to our local branch of The Wildlife Trust.

BEST BEAUTY ADVICE

Check the ingredients of any beauty product you buy! Legally, manufacturers have to write the list of ingredients by their INCI names (International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients) which means there is a standard way to name all cosmetic ingredients making it easy for you to see what any product contains. If you see ‘aqua’ (water) then there must be a preservative in there (these generally kill bugs) and if there’s water and any oil in there then there must be an emulsifier - many of these are not very nice (in my opinion!). Beware if you see things like ‘emulsifying wax’ - these can contain a whole host of ‘nasties’. My general rule is not to put anything ON your body that you wouldn’t put IN it!

DESERT ISLAND PRODUCT

Face Oil - I use loads of the stuff!

WHAT’S NEXT FOR YOUR BRAND?

We’re working on a range of Face Balms - rich moisturising night balms containing only natural ingredients - and no water, preservatives and emulsifiers.

TAKE ACTION AT HOME

• Check the back of packs of the beauty products you buy - I think a simple water spritz followed by a few drops of your favourite oil will go a long way

• See how many of the plastic bottles you already have you could reduce - solid soap, solid shampoo, refillable bottles..

• Ask yourself whether you really need to flush the loo on each and every visit
