As a child I spent any free time outdoors, building dens, foraging for wild bilberries and raspberries or horse riding on the moors in all weather. I had lots of freedom to roam unsupervised and take risks. My mother was a huge inspiration and a keen and knowledgeable gardener and it was through her that I learnt about the power of nature. As an adult I moved to London and became a make-up artist, travelling the world with music stars. Eventually I tired of hopping from country to country and settled back in London. Becoming a parent (my daughter Billie is now 12) inspired me to combine my love of the wild British countryside, childhood freedom and years of cosmetic work into creating Dandydill Way.

MY MORNING ROUTINE
Tea! My day starts around 6am and I wish I could say I start the morning with a mindful session of quiet meditation followed by an invigorating hour of yoga but the truth is I need at least 2 cups of tea while catching up with emails that have come in overnight from other parts of the world. Once the urgent work is done I prepare breakfast - always something healthy and substantial to set us up for the day; homemade granola with Greek yogurt and chopped fruit is a favourite. Skin care is very simple; rinsing my face with cold water, Dandydill Way moisturiser and sun screen (don’t forget hands!). After Billie leaves for school I take our dog Freddie for a very long, very brisk walk. We’re lucky to live near some beautiful parks but I also love walking the streets and riverside in London, there’s always something new to discover. Since working from home I realise how important it is to get outside each day, it’s crucial for recharging and reinvigorating mind and body.

MY FUTURE PLANS
We are growing and shrinking at the same time! Our export business has really taken off and I’m proud to be taking a small, family brand to a global market. On the other hand, we’re committed to reducing our packaging while retaining the beautiful presentation of the brand. We’ve switched to using PCR in our bottles and tubes and I’m constantly researching new innovations that could safely deliver pristine products to parents and children.

3 THINGS ABOUT DANDYDILL WAY

  1. We use a professional forager to pick wild grown hawthorn fruit for our exclusive botanical extract. Hawthorn (crataegus monogyna) is an incredibly hardy tree with a long and varied history in traditional medicine. The berries (known as haws) are exceptionally high in phytonutrients, including antioxidants and flavonoids.
  2. The range, particularly our cleansing mousse and moisturiser, is perfect for sensitive adult skin too. I have fragile, dry skin and wash my make-up off with the mousse each day, it leaves my skin soft and clean without feeling taut or stripped. Our moisturiser contains hyaluronic acid, an incredibly gentle and effective natural hydrating ingredient, normally only found in premium adult skincare.
  3. The name Dandydill Way came from my daughter Billie. We were out walking in the woods when she was little and she held out a beautiful yellow dandelion flower to me, proclaiming it to be a dandydill. I immediately loved the sound and originality and decided it had to be that!
