The idea to create Pure Purpose (purepurposecosmetics.co.uk) arose in April 2017 – after studying various medicinal plants, herbs and their (often forgotten) uses and benefits, Magdalena fell in love with the idea of combining the healing and beautifying benefits of botanicals as they were used many, many years ago and using them in modern day skincare products. (The plants really do work! I still get amazed at how potent they are!)

SELF-CARE SECRETS

I believe less is more. Perhaps I am old fashioned, but I still believe that our skin often “knows” best what it needs and how to produce it. I do not like to use too many products on my skin. Often, I will just apply oil on wet skin, after using a scrub to exfoliate. My go-to products will be the Re-Animating oil and the Tea Tree & Peppermint Scrub from Pure Purpose range.

BUSINESS PLANS

It would like to expand my brand’s product range and focus more on care for a more mature skin – 40 years old upwards, since we need to care for our skin more as we get older, and it is hard to find good, reliable products for this age group. I would also like to make more people aware of the fact that Pure Purpose has the option of re-sending used packaging, so that it can be disinfected and re-used, something which more companies should follow.

THREE WAYS TO BE MORE SUSTAINABLE

  • Switch to soap and shampoo bars, there are many options available – they work just as well as their liquid counterparts and are much more environment-friendly.
  • Buy only what you really need. We usually buy too much, more than we need – whether it is food, clothes, or cleaning products, we buy too much and end up wasting things.
  • Look for brands which are transparent and don’t be afraid to ask questions – and – educate yourself. In terms of recycling, sometimes we think ‘something is packaged in paper pouch’, so it is environmentally friendly. We forget that the pouch is aluminium and plastic lined.
