Roots & Wings Organic (rootsandwingsorganic.com) launched in 2007. Alongside our organic Hair and Body Care products we have a range of food products. The idea for the business was planted many years before launch, when my children were small and I was seeking out affordable, organic products for us all to use at home. I wanted to do more and reduce our impact on the planet for a long time so that really inspired me to launch. My career has been in the consumer goods industry, where I have introduced organic products into ranges and also ran another organic food company, so it felt very natural. The name Roots & Wings was borne out of the adage ‘the best things in life you can give your children are roots for stability and confidence and wings for aspiration’.

SELF-CARE SECRETS

My self-care tips are really simple. Drink lots of water, exercise when you can - I enjoy swimming and walking which I do every day - and I set myself a curfew time on my computer in the evenings which I highly recommend.

BUSINESS PLANS

Our ambition for Roots & Wings Organic is to continue to reach new customers with our Hair and Body Care products. Consumers are looking for more natural products which has resulted in significant growth in the natural beauty market (up 23% year on year.) Our products are all suitable for vegans, free from any chemical of concern and we are hugely proud to say that they are endorsed by the Nature Watch Foundation for upholding a higher standard of animal welfare. We pride ourselves on making affordable products for all the family that work brilliantly and smell great. And it goes without saying they are free from sodium lauryl, laureth sulphate, parabens, artificial fragrances and micro-beads.

WAYS TO BE MORE SUSTAINABLE

My tip would be to look for the small swaps that will make a big difference and that fit within your lifestyle. That might include buying an organic product instead of your usual one, taking re-usable shopping bags with you and recycling as much as possible.
