“I came up with the idea for Urban Veda (urbanveda.com) at midnight one night and registered it right there and then. ‘Urban’ is the way of living in a modern society and ‘Veda’ is based on the doctrine of eastern medicine, of which I grew up surrounded by as my father was an Ayurvedic practitioner. My background in the Ayurvedic foods and supplements industry led me to explore how these herbs and spices could treat the skin externally and saw a huge gap in the market at the time for an Ayurvedic natural skincare brand.

SELF-CARE SECRETS

Ayurveda is all about balance and so I truly believe the key to a happy life is balance. I do love cooking, especially with fresh produce that I have either picked up from my local veg shop or grown myself. I find cooking extremely therapeutic and also a chance to be creative. The test is always what my family thinks when they try it!

BUSINESS PLANS

We have lots of exciting new launches planned which we have all been working on for quite some time now, perfecting the formulations and ensuring they are perfect before launching them. Lockdown has given us a chance to really focus on this and we now have some set launch dates! There will be a range of new products, not just in the skincare sphere so definitely watch this space!”

THREE WAYS TO BE MORE SUSTAINABLE

BE REALISTIC - The goal is to live a more natural and sustainable life long term, so gradually make some changes over a period of time. For example, use up all of your beauty products before purchasing ones that are more natural and sustainable to reduce any waste. The same applies in the kitchen or other areas of your life.

RESEARCH IS KEY Continuously trying to better our understanding of why we need to live in a more natural and sustainable way and how to do so, will only cement the reasons in your mind for making these changes. Taking the time to educate ourselves will keep us on track to do better and make the necessary changes.

PROVIDE SUPPORT Support local businesses and charities that are already working to promote sustainability, or selling natural and sustainable products. This will help facilitate them spreading their message further and also educate yourself further.
