Following on from my homebirth advice post, I wanted to share with you that I gave birth to our second son early on Thursday morning.

My waters broke at 10.30pm on Wednesday night, was having contractions by 11 and was 7 centimetres dialated by the time my midwives arrived at 4am (my husband and son having slept up until 3ish). He was born less than 2 hours later as the sun came up with no tears, cuts or pain relief and happily at home.

I am so amazed to have had such a quick and easy birth, my confidence was shaken by my 30 hour long hospital birth but it’s been restored. My midwives were wonderful, so nice to get to know them over the pregnancy and feel totally at ease in their care and guidance.

His name is Ari and he’s just perfect. <3
