This ban which came into effect from August this year but is part of a staggered plan means that takeout coffee will be served in compostable containers and it will no longer be possible to buy plastic glasses for picnics and parties.

Although the Environment Minister, Segolene Royal believe that the ban is ‘anti-social’ because it effects low-income families who might be more likely to use disposable items, many are in favour of the plan and hope that it paves the way for more European countries to follow suit.
