Not only does Kirsty Davey live in a cottage once used by prospectors, but she loves digging through second-hand shops for glittering nuggets of treasure.

Kirsty, her partner Grant, and their blended family of five live in the foothills of Mount Tarrengower in Victoria, Australia. She works as a freelance stylist, content creator and digital marketer and studies part time for a degree in archaeology

"Lisle’s Gully cottage was built in about 1860. It was originally the caretaker’s residence and office for the Carlisle and Whittaker Gold Mining Company, and is quietly nestled into the state forest and only a short walk from the historic Maldon village and the incredible Le Sel French deli! Over the past two years, we have progressively updated and renovated most of the internal aspects, mindful to preserve the integrity of the original footprint.

Although a small house, natural light fills each room and the timber-lined roofs create a sense of unexpected spaciousness.

HEART OF THE HOME

As a lover of good food, cooking and eating, I was eager to renovate the kitchen. We removed the existing cabinetry, appliances, flooring and worked with a local cabinet maker to install a simple and functional space for cooking and entertaining. Shortly after moving in, we installed our new AGA E3 stove (life goal), the hearth of our home.
