We spoke to Mandy Webb about how BAR SUDS got started, and a few things you should know about her brand.
"It was a hobby that turned into a side hustle! During Covid I experimented making soaps for friends and family, sending samples by post. I'd better clarify here that I'm a qualified soapmaker. I didn't just wake up one day and get a saucepan, mix oils and butters together and voila, soap was made!
I also felt shop-bought soap was no longer ethical and contained dozens of nasty ingredients. I wanted my soap to actually help those who had skin conditions or wanted to use a soap that's only made from natural products. I also spent months researching essential oils, selecting those with mood-enhancing properties to help with mental health.
The other non-negotiable was sustainability. I wanted to ensure my suppliers were just as ethical as me, so zero waste and plastic free where possible. So good for the skin and great for the planet."
What is your morning beauty routine?
Funnily enough I use my soaps, at the moment Aleppo, just because it's aged into the most amazing bar! Twice a day.
What does the future hold for your company?
I'd love to be able to expand and make it my day job. Perhaps getting a listing in an ethical business such as National Trust, Kew Gardens or English Heritage and producing a range specifically for them would be amazing.

- The name came to me in a dream, pretty random, but it has another meaning. Can you guess what that is? Only one person has got the right answer in 7 years!
- I'm the Chief Soaper and do everything! Website design, branding, photography, markets, picking and packing, soap manufacturing, buying ingredients, marketing, etc., all around a full-time job.
- Sustainability at its core. Recyclable packaging, reusing supplier boxes, avoiding plastic where possible and always recycling it ethically.
