Going Cheep

The birds are returning! It’s peak migrating season, so go and say hello to your old friends. Sand martins, chiffchaffs, nightingales and house martins are all in our skies, and you might even spot a magical swallow — the herald of early summer and regarded as good omens. Find your favourite spot, take a warm picnic, and see who you spot.  Don’t forget to listen for the cuckoo on April 14th, which is St Tiburtius’ day. It’s considered lucky to hear one if you’re sitting on soft ground, but bad luck on hard. So find a meadow to in which to plonk yourselves!
